The new Management Board team Julian Jäger and Günther Ofner start work today with key decisions and clear strategic goals
We want to successfully expand our position in an increasingly competitive environment, and must therefore change course in a number of areas. The most important issues are the further improvement of service quality and greater comfort for our customers, which will require additional investments. In order to shoulder these investments, cost reductions and productivity improvements will be required. Another particularly important factor is the successful start of operations in the Skylink on schedule, emphasised Günther Ofner, member of the Management Board (CFO) of Flughafen Wien AG.
The pressure on costs and quality is increasing, and Flughafen Wien must adjust to these changes. We must offer our airline customers better quality and service, whereby Skylink is only part of this picture. With the support of the 18,000 employees at Vienna Airport, we will create the necessary conditions for future growth. Our common goal must be to safeguard and expand Viennas position as a hub over the long-term, explained Julian Jäger, member of the Management Board (COO) of Flughafen Wien AG.
The new Management Board team started work today, on 5 September 2011.
Important first-day decisions by the Management Board: immediate measures to streamline the management structure and identify potential synergies
In order to increase the companys operating strength and to identify potential synergies, the new Management Board will immediately implement a streamlined management structure. This new structure will strengthen and centralise important functions such as strategy/controlling and procurement and also include the reorganisation of technical services.
The Supervisory Board unanimously approved the new structure and the distribution of duties among the Management Board as recommended by the Management Board. The companys management was informed of these changes as well as the strategic goals of the new Management Board at a first strategy meeting.
The new Management Board has scheduled its first press conference for 20 September 2011 to also provide the general public with detailed information on these goals.
The responsibilities of the new Management Board:
As a member of the Management Board and Chief Operating Officer (COO), Julian Jäger is responsible for aviation and handling, centre management-retail & gastronomy as well as information systems, environmental management, internal audit and international investments. As a member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Günther Ofner is in charge of finance, real estate and site development, advertising space and parking, construction of the Skylink and strategy, personnel, communications and the general secretariat. Both members will be responsible for technical services and serve as the speaker of the Management Board in accordance with their assigned duties.
Management Board member Gerhard Schmid will oversee preparations for the start of operations in the terminal extension VIE-Skylink in coordination with Julian Jäger. Management Board member Ernest Gabmann will be in charge of general construction projects in coordination with Günther Ofner.
This will ensure the orderly transfer of projects, above all in connection with current work to complete the terminal extension VIE-Skylink and to prepare for the start of operations. The transition period is scheduled to close by the end of this year, and Julian Jäger and Günther Ofner will then form the Management Board of Flughafen Wien AG.
