Hainan Airlines inaugurates flight service in Vienna
China’s largest private airline, Hainan Airlines, will inaugurate flight service on a new route starting in October 2018, namely between Vienna and Shenzhen. The Chinese airline will operate flights between China and Austria for the first time, making Vienna the third European destination it serves in addition to Brussels and Madrid. In the future, it will deploy a Boeing 787 Dreamliner twice a week on the Vienna – Shenzhen route.
“We are pleased to welcome Hainan Airlines, China’s largest private airline, as the first airline of the HNA Group and our new partner here in Vienna. The new flight connection to Shenzhen is a wonderful addition to the existing long-haul offering from Vienna. As a result, travellers now have a total of 17 destinations in Asia at their disposal. China is an important growth market for Vienna Airport and the entire business and tourism location of Austria. At the same time, Vienna is considered to be one of the most popular European travel destinations for Chinese tourists. This partnership strengthens both regions as well as Vienna Airport's role as the gateway to Central and Eastern Europe”, says Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport
