Vienna Airport Welcomes New Long-Haul Flight Offering of Air Canada and Austrian Airlines
Vienna Airport is pleased with the launch of new long-haul flight connections from Vienna on the part of Air Canada and Austrian Airlines. Starting in April 2019, Air Canada will inaugurate flights to Vienna, and the new Austrian Airlines route to Montreal represents a new travel destination directly accessible from Vienna.
“Vienna Airport has two reasons to celebrate today. First, we welcome the decision of Austrian Airlines to launch flight service to the new long-haul destination of Montreal. Moreover, we are delighted to welcome Air Canada as a new carrier in Vienna. As a result, a total of eight travel destinations in North America are now directly accessible from Vienna as of April 2019. Passenger volume in this region has risen by 56% since 2011. And we assume that this new flight offering will add further impetus to this growth”, says Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Flughafen Wien AG, who is pleased with the new developments in the long-haul offering from Vienna Airport.
Montreal and Toronto in the 2019 summer flight schedule
Both flight connections to Canada offered by the Star Alliance partners will be served on a daily basis commencing on April 29, 2018. The flight operated by Austrian Airlines will take off from Vienna at 10:30 a.m. and land in Montreal at 1:35 p.m. The return flight will depart from Montreal at 6:45 p.m. and arrive in Vienna at 8:45 a.m. on the next day.
In the future, the existing flight connection of Austrian Airlines to Toronto will be operated by Air Canada as a codeshare flight. The Air Canada aircraft will leave Vienna at 10:40 a.m. and arrive in Toronto at 1:30 p.m. The return flight will depart from Toronto at 6:25 p.m. and touch down in Vienna at 8:30 a.m. on the next day. Both routes will be served five times per week during the winter season. Air Canada will deploy a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner to serve its new route. Air Canada is Canada’s largest national airline with a route network consisting of direct flights to more than 220 airports on six continents.
