Direct Flight to Morocco’s Largest City: Royal Air Maroc Links Vienna and Casablanca
Royal Air Maroc is returning to Vienna after an absence of 20 years and will offer three weekly flight connections to the Moroccan Atlantic coast in a Boeing 737.
Morocco’s state-owned airline Royal Air Maroc will fly once again from Vienna to Casablanca as of April 2019. In line with the film classic of the same name, Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, sees considerable potential in the new destination. “This can turn out to be the continuation of a beautiful friendship. The return of Royal Air Maroc means that Morocco’s largest airline and one of the top airlines in Africa is coming back to Vienna.” As a result, six different destinations in North Africa can now be reached directly from Vienna. “The region is more accessible now than it has ever been before”, Julian Jäger adds.
Casablanca, the biggest city in Morocco, and the economic heart of this North African nation, is a pulsating metropolis with an impressive mixture of historic buildings and modern infrastructure. The more than three million inhabitants provide a breathtaking flair to the world-famous port city. The port city is home to the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. This architectural masterpiece is located directly on the Atlantic and adorns itself with a 210-meter-high minaret, the highest religious building anywhere across the globe. In addition to numerous sights, the city on the Atlantic coast inhabited since the eighth century also offers the perfect opportunity for a swimming holiday, snorkelling or boat trips thanks to its well-equipped beaches and coasts.
The film classic “Casablanca” is celebrating an anniversary almost at the same time as the announcement of the new direct flight departing from Vienna. The international blockbuster which was awarded three Oscars was first shown in the Austrian cinemas 70 years ago, namely in September 1948. The film has achieved cult status up until this very day thanks to its film stars Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergmann playing the leading roles and famous quotes such as “Here’s looking at you, kid” and “Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship”.
Three times per week from Vienna to Casablanca
The Royal Air Maroc flight departs from Vienna at 4.40 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and lands in Casablanca at 8.30 p.m. The return flight from Casablanca takes off at 12.00 a.m. and arrives in Vienna at 3.40 p.m. The airline will deploy a Boeing 737 aircraft.
