June 2019 Traffic Results: Strong Growth of Flughafen Wien AG Once Again – 17.4% Rise in Passenger Volume for the Flughafen Wien Group, 19.7% Increase at Vienna Airport
 
The strong growth of Flughafen Wien AG is continuing. In June 2019, the total number of passengers handled by the Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) rose by 17.4% to 3.8 million travellers. The accumulated passenger volume in the period January to June 2019 was up 19.9% to 18.1 million. Vienna Airport once again registered a substantial increase in passenger volume of 23.9% in the first six months of 2019 to 14.7 million.
 
Vienna Airport: Very strong growth in passenger volume and flight movements
The number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in the month of June 2019 rose by 19.7% compared to the prior-year month to 2,985,210 travellers. The number of local passengers increased sharply by 25.4%, and transfer passenger volume was up by 3.1%. The number of flight movements in June 2019 also showed a substantial increase of 12.9% year-on-year. Cargo volume at Vienna Airport dropped by 12.7% from the comparable level of June 2018.
 
The total number of passengers at Vienna Airport flying to destinations in Western Europe climbed by 19.9% in June 2019, and passenger traffic to Eastern Europe increased by 20.0%. In June 2019, the number of passengers travelling to the Far East was up by 4.6% from the prior-year month, and passenger volume to Middle Eastern destinations was up by 22.2%. The number of passengers travelling to North America also showed a clearly positive development, rising by 35.6% in June 2019. The number of passengers travelling to Africa increased by 17.3% year-on-year.
 
Malta Airport reported an increase in passenger volume of 8.8% in the month of June 2019, whereas Kosice Airport registered a rise of 17.7% in the number of passengers it handled.
