September 2024 Traffic Results: 4,058,778 passengers handled by the Flughafen Wien Group (+6.8%) and 3,078,141 passengers at Vienna Airport (+5.4%) 
 
Passenger volumes further increased following a record-breaking summer. The total number of passengers handled by the Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) in September 2024 rose by 6.8% to 4,058,778 travellers, whereas Vienna Airport showed a 5.4% increase to 3,078,141 passengers compared to September 2023.
 
The number of local passengers at Vienna Airport in September 2024 was up to 2,358,092 (+6.6%), whereas transfer passenger traffic climbed to 711,994 travellers (+1.4%). The number of flight movements in September 2024 increased 6.4% year-on-year to 22,050 take-offs and landings. Cargo volume equalled 25,547 tonnes, up 26.4% from the prior-year month of September 2023.
 
Details on passenger traffic in September 2024
Passenger traffic from Vienna Airport to Western Europe rose to 1,062,810 passengers in September 2024, comprising an increase of 6.8% from the previous year. The number of passengers flying to Eastern Europe in September 2024 amounted to 249,323 travellers (+10.4%). Vienna Airport reported a total of 54,817 passengers flying to North America (+11.7%), and 24,251 to Africa (-2.6%). Passenger traffic to destinations in the Middle East totalled 67,244 travellers (-25.8%), whereas passenger volume to the Far East climbed to 48,092 travellers, comprising a year-on-year increase of 22.0%. 
 
The strategic investments of Flughafen Wien AG also developed very well. Passenger volume at Malta Airport rose 10.4% to 896,471 travellers in September 2024. Kosice Airport handled a total of 84,166 passengers, showing a strong increase of 21.5% from the prior-year month.
 
Accumulated passenger volumes from January – September 2024: +7.2% at Vienna Airport and +9.1% in the Flughafen Wien Group
The total number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in the nine-month period from January to September 2024 increased by 7.2% from the previous year to 24,199,913 passengers, or 0.7% above the pre-crisis level of 2019. Total cargo volume from January-September 2024 equalled 216,360 tonnes, a rise of 19.7% from the prior-year period. Passenger volume in the entire Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) in this period was up 9.1% to 31,626,531 travellers.
