Vienna Airport and Bradford Airport Logistics Launch Joint Venture for smart logistics at the airport – Central Logistics Hub to Supply over 100 Shops and Restaurants with Launch of the Terminal 3 Southern Expansion
| Press releases

Vienna Airport continues to forge ahead with its quality drive. The international logistics leader Bradford Airport Logistics and Vienna Airport have joined forces to establish “Vienna Airport Logistics GmbH”, a new joint venture set to redefine how goods are delivered through the airport. Starting in 2027, all flows of goods for the Terminal 3 Southern Expansion and all passenger areas will be efficiently, securely and sustainably routed through a centralized logistics hub to more than 100 shops and restaurants. The corresponding agreement on the joint venture was officially signed by Benjamin Richter, Founder & Chairman of Bradford Airport Logistics, Philipp Ahrens, Senior Vice President Center Management at Vienna Airport and Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport. Philipp Ahrens will assume management responsibility for the new Vienna Airport Logistics GmbH in addition to his function as Senior Vice President of Center Management at Vienna Airport.
“The new infrastructure will comprise the logistics backbone of our terminals. We are professionalizing the entire supply of goods at the airport – centrally, securely and tailored to the dynamic requirements of an international flight hub. In this way, Vienna Airport is also setting new quality standards for logistics,” states Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.
“Every delivery will take place via a centralised system as of 2027 – efficiently, securely and predictably. This will enhance quality and reliability for the benefit of our partners and result in perceptible improvements for our passengers. We are assuming operational responsibility and will rely on Bradford’s proven global expertise,” says Philipp Ahrens, Senior Vice President Center Management at Vienna Airport and Managing Director of Vienna Airport Logistics GmbH.
“Incorporating centralized logistics infrastructure is foundational to delivering safe, efficient, and seamless experiences for passengers. We're proud to bring our global expertise to this transformative project with Vienna Airport,” adds Benjamin Richter, Founder & Chairman of Bradford Airport Logistics.
Modern logistics centre as the interface for the secure and sustainable flow of goods
The cornerstone of the new logistics concept is a centrally located logistics centre encompassing an area of about 6,000 m², which will bundle all deliveries to the terminals in the future. The building is directly connected to the airport apron, thus enabling secure and efficient deliveries to retail partners and operational stakeholders. Every delivery will be systematized within the logistics centre, reviewed for safety, consolidated and handed over to the respective areas of use in a timely and efficient manner. As a result, a streamlined, standardised, and clearly regulated process will be created for the benefit of the entire airport terminal complex.

After commissioning of the Southern Expansion: A total of 100 shops and restaurants at the airport
Construction work on the Terminal 3 Southern Expansion will not only increase the available terminal space but also the commercial offering at Vienna Airport. A modern and elegant travel environment will be created spanning an area of about 70,000 m². A total of 30 new shops and restaurants await passengers starting in 2027, with a clear orientation to Austrian quality and international premium brands, spacious lounges, modern security checks and an exclusive atmosphere. On balance, Vienna Airport will offer more than 100 shops and restaurants in the entire terminal environment once the Terminal 3 Southern Expansion is completed and open for use. Deliveries will exclusively take place in the future via the new logistics centre, optimally fusing efficiency, sustainability and high-end service.
