AIRZETA Launches Operations in Austria: New Korean Cargo Airline Affirms Vienna Airport as Its European Hub – Long-Term Cargo Partnership Signed

Strengthening international cargo connectivity: AIRZETA, a newly established South Korean cargo airline, has officially launched operations and selected Vienna Airport as its primary European hub. A comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding for Cargo Development and long-term handling agreements form the cornerstone of this strategic long-term collaboration. With this partnership, Vienna Airport further expands its role as a key gateway for international air freight. The cooperation was formally inaugurated during a signing ceremony at the airport control tower, followed by an exclusive evening reception in Vienna’s city center attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Austria, Ham Sang Wook, AIRZETA CEO Kwan Sik Kim, and Vienna Airport joint CEO and COO Julian Jäger.

AIRZETA’s decision to choose Vienna as its European hub sends a strong signal about the quality and potential of our airport. This strengthens the economic, logistical, and strategic connection between Europe and Korea,” said Julian Jäger, joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

Evening Reception at the Burgtheater’s Vestibül: Celebrating the Partnership
To mark the official start of the collaboration, Vienna Airport and AIRZETA hosted an exclusive reception on November 13, 2025, at the acclaimed restaurant Vestibül inside the Vienna Burgtheater. Numerous distinguished guests from business, aviation, and public institutions attended. Highlights included speeches by Vienna Airport’s joint CEO and COO Julian Jäger and AIRZETA CEO Kwan Sik Kim and the South Korean Ambassador as well as a ceremonial gift exchange, and a joint cake-cutting. The event underscored the value of the new partnership and marked the beginning of a promising chapter for Vienna as a leading European cargo hub.
Direct Cargo Connection Between Vienna and Korea – Up to Six Weekly Rotations
AIRZETA is operating operate regular cargo flights between Vienna and Seoul-Incheon, Korea’s most significant air freight hub. With six weekly frequencies, the airline ensures a reliable high-capacity connection between East Asia and Central Europe. Shipments include auto parts and battery materials, high-value industrial components, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce consignments. The high-capacity Boeing 747 freighter aircraft used on the route offer efficient processing and substantial payload capability — a key advantage for trade, export industries, and logistics networks across both regions.
New Airline: AIRZETA Focuses on Growth and Premium Cargo Services
AIRZETA is a newly established, independent cargo airline that delivers worldwide air logistics services from Korea. The company emerges from the merger of Asiana Cargo and Korean Air, two well-established players in the Asian–European freight market, and the subsequent spin-off from Air Incheon. While Asiana Cargo has served Vienna for many years, AIRZETA now brings Air Incheon’s infrastructure and network capabilities to the airport for the first time. The launch of AIRZETA represents not only the creation of a new airline, but also a significant strategic upgrade for Vienna Airport: increased cargo volume, enhanced intercontinental connectivity, and a new level of operational collaboration.
