Vienna Airport Breaks Record and welcomes 32 Millionth Passenger

Vienna Airport has reached a new historic milestone: Before the end of the year, Austria's largest airport welcomed its 32 millionth passenger, setting a new record. The exact passenger figures for the full year 2025 will be announced by Vienna Airport on January 20, 2026. The passengers, Angela from Bucharest and her sister Carmen, were welcomed upon their arrival at Vienna Airport by Vienna's City Councillor for Finance and Economic Affairs, Barbara Novak, and Julian Jäger, COO and Joint CEO of Vienna Airport.

“This record figure is a strong sign of Vienna’s international appeal and the airport’s high standing as a modern gateway for guests from all over the world. As a vibrant capital city with a lively culture and attractive quality of life, Vienna is inconceivable without a high-performing airport. Vienna Airport is therefore also a key partner for the future of our city and a crucial location factor for the competitiveness and attractiveness of the entire region,” said Barbara Novak, City Councillor for Finance, Economic Affairs, Labour, International Relations and Digitalization of the City of Vienna.

“32 million passengers – that’s a record that speaks for itself. It impressively demonstrates how firmly Vienna Airport has established itself as an international hub and how highly valued Vienna is as a travel destination. This milestone was only made possible by the outstanding performance of our entire team and all partners at the location. And we’re already looking ahead: With the southern expansion, we’re creating a new level of quality by 2027 – for an even better travel experience with greater comfort, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and an expanded range of shopping, dining, and lounge options,” said Julian Jäger, COO and Joint CEO of Vienna Airport.

A personal welcome from City Councillor Barbara Novak and Vienna Airport CEO Julian Jäger
For 20 years, sisters Angela and Carmen have been visiting the Austrian capital together to enjoy the Christmas season and cultural attractions. Shortly before the end of the year, they arrived in Vienna from Bucharest with Austrian Airlines and received a special welcome: Angela was the 32 millionth passenger at Vienna Airport. Vienna's City Councillor for Finance and Economic Affairs, Barbara Novak, and Vienna Airport CEO Julian Jäger personally greeted the travelers. They presented Angela and Carmen with two Vienna City Cards offering free public transport and numerous discounts, vouchers worth €500 for shopping and dining at the airport, free use of the FastTrack service, and two complimentary visits to the exclusive Vienna Airport lounges, including the award-winning VIENNA Lounge.
