Air Corsica takes off from Vienna: Direct flights to the “Island of Beauty” via Ajaccio and Bastia

Corsica is becoming more accessible for Austrian travellers: the Corsican flag carrier Air Corsica has launched services from Vienna and since 7 June 2026 is flying directly to Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica. Just one week later, from 14 June 2026, the airline will also add Bastia to its route network from Vienna. The new direct connections enhance the range of tourist offerings from Vienna and provide convenient and fast access to one of Europe’s most diverse and spectacular islands. A modern Airbus A320 will be used for the service.

“Hardly any other destination combines the Mediterranean way of life, stunning coastal landscapes and spectacular mountain scenery quite like Corsica – and it’s just under two hours’ flight from Vienna. With Air Corsica, the ‘Island of Beauty’ is now even more accessible from Vienna, and our summer offering is expanded by two attractive Mediterranean destinations: Ajaccio and Bastia. Corsica’s national airline is exactly the right partner to make Corsica’s tourist potential even more tangible for Austrian travellers. Welcome to Vienna, Air Corsica!”, says Julian Jäger, joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

“I am delighted with the launch of these two new direct routes between Vienna and Ajaccio and Bastia. The development of services outside the Public Service Obligation framework is a key component of our growth strategy and our plan to strengthen our international network. In the longer term, we even hope to extend the duration of this 2026 programme, which currently runs from early June to early October. Like the rest of the industry, we are keen to achieve a more balanced distribution of tourist flows throughout the year, in order to promote sustainable, high-quality tourism”, stated Marie-Helene Casanova-Servas, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Air Corsica.

Nonstop flights from Vienna to Ajaccio and Bastia with Air Corsica
Air Corsica is now operating a weekly service (on Sundays) to Ajaccio until 4 October. From 14 June to 30 September, Air Corsica operates the route to Bastia twice a week (Wednesdays and Sundays). A modern Airbus A320 is deployed on these routes.

Corsica: Caribbean charm, mountain landscapes and Mediterranean coastal towns
The new direct connections make Corsica particularly attractive for independent round trips. Ajaccio in the west and Bastia in the north are only about two and a half hours’ drive apart and offer two different gateways to the island: Ajaccio is synonymous with southern Mediterranean flair, historic old town streets, Napoleon’s birthplace and stunning bathing bays. Bastia delights with its old harbour, Italian-influenced architecture, lively old town and proximity to the long beaches of the east coast. The south of Corsica is also easily accessible from Ajaccio: Bonifacio, one of the most impressive coastal towns in the Mediterranean, is around a two-hour drive away. The town is spectacularly perched on light-coloured limestone cliffs above the sea and, with its historic upper town, natural harbour and spectacular views towards Sardinia, is one of the major highlights of any trip to Corsica. It is not for nothing that Corsica is known as the ‘Île de Beauté’ – the Island of Beauty.
