Royal Jordanian Airlines returns to Vienna Airport: Four weekly non-stop flights to Amman in Jordan

The route network at Vienna Airport is expanding: Royal Jordanian Airlines, Jordan’s national flag carrier, is once again linking Vienna with Amman starting, 24 June 2026. The flight connection will bring travellers directly to the Jordanian capital four times per week, thus serving as a gateway to historic treasures in the region, such as Petra or the Dead Sea. The airline is deploying a modern Airbus A320neo on this route. Following a pandemic-related interruption, Royal Jordanian has resumed flight service to and from Vienna Airport. The reactivation of the Vienna-Amman route was officially inaugurated at a photo session featuring Karim Makhlouf, Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Jordanian Airlines, Omar Al-Rawi, member of the Vienna Provincial Parliament and of the Vienna City Council & Chairman of the Committee for Urban Development, Mobility and Vienna Municipal Utilities and Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

“The return of Royal Jordanian to Vienna marks the continuation of a remarkable success story. Around 50 years ago, the airline launched its first flights between Vienna and Amman. We are therefore particularly pleased to see this long-standing connection celebrate its comeback during our anniversary year. The new direct service strengthens the international connectivity of Vienna Airport and creates additional travel opportunities for business travellers, tourists, and people visiting family and friends in the region. At the same time, it opens attractive onward connections and transfer options via the Amman hub. Jordan is regarded as one of the most politically and economically stable countries in the region, making it an important partner for international travel and business,” states Julian Jäger, Joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.
“The launch of this operation marks an important step in expanding our European network and strengthening connectivity between Jordan and Austria, as well as Central Europe. In line with Royal Jordanian’s focus on promoting tourism into Jordan through our ExploRJordan initiative, this new route is expected to further position Jordan as an attractive tourism destination for the Austrian market,” said Karim Makhlouf, Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Jordanian Airlines.

The new flight connection will be operated four times per week with immediate effect. A new Airbus A320neo is being deployed on the route, providing a modern travel experience featuring a high level of comfort and Wifi on board. Flight service is offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Jordan: Bustling city life, natural landscapes and historical treasures
Petra, one of the New Seven Wonders of the Modern World, along with the spectacular desert landscapes of Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, the lowest freely accessible place on the planet, rank among Jordan’s most well-known tourist attractions. Furthermore, the country also fascinates visitors thanks to its history dating back thousands of years, pulsating cities, impressive natural landscapes and an extraordinary innate hospitality. The new flight connection is part of the tourism initiative ExploRJordan, with which Royal Jordanian is positioning the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as an attractive travel destination for international guests. The objective of the initiative is to promote sustainable tourism and generate greater awareness of Jordan’s diversity to an even broader international audience.
