Total passenger volume from January to June 2026: Growth of 1.9% to 19,975,392 travellers in the Flughafen Wien Group
The Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) reported a stable development in the month of June 2026, showing a slight rise of 0.2% from the previous year to 4,099,311 passengers. As expected, the number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in June 2026 declined, falling by 5.9% to 2,832,434 travellers. This decrease can be attributed to the reduction of low-cost carrier capacities and the reduced flight offering related to the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. In contrast, Malta Airport reported a 16.9% increase in passenger traffic in June 2026 to 1,079,703 travellers and Kosice Airport registered strong growth of 28.0% to 127,174 passengers. In the period January to June 2026, passenger volumes in the entire Flughafen Wien Group were up by 1.9% to 19,975,392 travellers.
Flughafen Wien Group handles 4.0 million passengers (+0.2%) in June 2026
In June 2026, the Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) handled a total of 4,039,311 passengers, comprising a rise of 0.2% compared to June 2025. Passenger volume at Malta Airport climbed by 16.9% to 1,079,703 travellers in June 2026, and Kosice Airport registered an increase of 28.0% to 127,174 passengers.
Vienna Airport: 2.8 million passengers (-5.9%) in June 2026
Total passenger volume at Vienna Airport equalled 2,832,434 travellers (-5.9%) in the month of June 2026.
Traffic development in detail
The number of local passengers at Vienna Airport fell by 7.3% from the prior-year month to 2,191,544 travellers in June 2026, whereas transfer passenger traffic rose by 2.5% to a total of 628,146. The number of flight movements declined by 4.5% to 20,987 starts and landings. The seat load factor remained fairly stable at 80.7% (-0.4 percentage points down compared to June 2025). Cargo volume rose by 5.0% to 27,058 tonnes.
In June 2026, passenger traffic from Vienna Airport to Western Europe equalled 1,026,195 travellers
(-2.5% YOY). The number of passengers flying to Eastern Europe amounted to 224,480 travellers
(-17.2%). Vienna Airport reported a total of 46,153 passengers flying to North America (+2.1%) and 23,989 travellers to Africa (-11.1%). Due to the prevailing crisis and the related effects on flight traffic, passenger traffic to the Middle East region showed a 27.2% decrease to 40,093 travellers. In contrast, the number of passengers flying to destinations in the Far East climbed 10.6% to 59,831 travellers.
Accumulated passenger volumes January to June 2026: -3.2% at Vienna Airport and +1.9% in the Flughafen Wien Group
The total number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in the six-month period January-June 2026 fell by 3.2% from the previous year to the accumulated figure of 14,267,744 travellers. Cargo volume rose slightly by 0.2% to 154,276 tonnes. Passenger volume in the entire Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) increased by 1.9% during this period to 19,975,392 travellers.
