New Terminal 3 Experience

Vienna Airport is a high-flying hub right in the heart of Europe, an important bridge connecting East and West, and a gateway to the world. Some 30 million passengers per year take off or touch down in Vienna, enjoying our convenient infrastructure and extensive range of services on offer for which we have been awarded the Skytrax 4-Star rating.

For years, we have implemented a dedicated growth strategy in order to offer our guests an even higher level of service and a truly unforgettable travel experience and have invested €420 million to achieve this goal. With the expansion of Terminal 3 planned for 2027, Vienna Airport is creating a future-oriented ambience with an added 70,000m² across 3 levels, a new central security checkpoint, an additional 18 gates, a host of comfortable lounges and, above all, a spacious and experience-focused shopping and restaurant offering on approximately 10,000m² of floor space.

Dreaming together: a manifesto for a new chapter in Viennese hospitality

Our vision is to create a one-of-a-kind airport experience. To get there, we are re-envisioning the concept of time spent at an airport by conveying to our passengers the most important aspects of our cultural heritage: Viennese warmth and proximity to nature, our tradition in the arts and culture, as well as our history, joie de vivre and easygoingness therefore shine through in dazzling green and gold across the entire Vienna Airport.

The architecture and experience design are based on a “Golden Heritage” leitmotif, a tribute to Vienna’s heritage. Our overall design concept unites the elegance of golden elements with the timeless charm of aged copper and the greenery of historic parks. Gold accents, decorative embellishments, bold patterns and eye-catching typography in the style of Viennese Art Nouveau create a sophisticated and luxurious atmosphere in the new terminal landscape. In turn, lush green surfaces and organic accoutrements ground us in proximity to Mother Nature and simultaneously convey a sense of calm and liveliness. The result: At Vienna Airport, our guests see, taste and feel the Viennese way of life and experience natural warmth and golden traditions from the beginning to the end of their journey.

Hosting an unforgettable Viennese experience

Retail space at Vienna Airport is particularly sought after thanks to its potential for high traffic. With extensive transit areas and a diverse centre mix, we already offer a wealth of opportunities for retail and F&B. With the expansion of Terminal 3, we are increasing the retail and gastronomy space at Vienna Airport by 50% to a total of 30,000m². The experience planes range from state-of-the-art retail and the finest Austrian food experience to a food court that accommodates every taste on 10,000m².

STATE-OF-THE-ART RETAIL: a vibrant and inviting hotspot bringing together people, activities and brands

An engaging combination of international brands and local pop-up stores offers convenience, inspiration and entertainment. Sophisticated, iconic architecture makes for an elegant ambience that blends seamlessly with the dining and lounge areas. A vibrant shopping street with open spaces promotes brand presence and beckons people to linger. Interactive brand activations, cultural events and digital experiences create a lively and dynamic shopping atmosphere.

FOOD MARKET: dive into the vibes of Vienna´s Naschmarkt and find freshness and authenticity for every taste

The hybrid gastronomy concept, combining Viennese street food and market traditions with international cuisine, offers top quality at a fair price. Inspired by an outdoor market, travellers can enjoy a fresh variety of authentic regional and global dishes here. Casual dining in a lively, social atmosphere is further invigorated by events and seasonal highlights.

FINEST AUSTRIAN FOOD EXPERIENCE: serving inspiration and authentic Viennese cuisine

At Vienna Airport, guests are immersed in a genuine Viennese ambience where traditional dishes are served with a modern twist. The terminal expansion showcases the full culinary diversity of Vienna andwith its extensive, high-quality rangeoffers an authentic culinary showcase of Vienna and Austria. Travellers from all over the world experience genuine Viennese hospitality. From what is presumably the world’s most famous schnitzel at Figlmüller, to a wide range of specialities at the DO & CO outlets, traditional Austrian delicacies and pastries at Landtmann Daily, outstanding breads and sandwiches at Öfferl, iconic Viennese confectionery at AIDA, first-class urban fusion cuisine at o.m.k by Mochi, fresh and crisp snacks with a Levantine influence at NENI, artisanal, authentic Italian dishes at Barbaro All’aeroporto, and extravagant cocktails and mocktails at Viennity by Tür 7 right through to healthy and vegan ice cream at Veganista, as well as juices, bowls and sandwiches at JuiceFactory—there’s something to suit every taste. In addition to its partnership with a number of these outlets, SSP is now also bringing Starbucks to the terminal expansion, whilst Lagardère Travel Retail will be operating Burger King and other outlets there.

In the future, guests will be able to access the new terminal building right after progressing through the Terminal 3 check-in area. The new building will also create a convenient transfer hub for transit guests between Gates C, D, F and G. The expansion of Terminal 3 will also create a total of 18 additional bus gatesten for Schengen and eight for non-Schengen departures. Sustainable Growth

The construction phase of the south terminal expansion is progressing rapidly, despite the complex conditions posed by ongoing flight operations. Vienna Airport is turning to innovative building technology and sustainable solutions such as energy-efficient thermal insulation and solar power. Thanks to a high degree of expertise in digitisation and BIM (Building Information Modelling) regarding planning and project management, we can effectively monitor schedules and budgets, and ensure that they are consistently met. The result is a future-proof new Terminal 3 Experience that exceeds the highest sustainability standards.
