Airside Training
According EU (VO) 139/2014 an airside driving license is mandatory for driving on the movement area at Vienna International Airport.
Driving on other operational areas (“Betriebsstraße”, “Pierstraßen”, areas between these roads and buildings) is permitted with “VO” permission on the airport ID card, which will be issued after the safety- and security training in the Airport ID Card Office.

Your access to theory
You will receive an e-mail with the access data for the theoretical online training of the Airside Driving Licence. Use this training to consolidate and deepen your knowledge for the theoretical part of the exam.
Theoretical and practical test
Once you have completed the module "theoretical training" (CBT - computer based training), please make an appointment for
the theoretical and practical test. You can find the available appointments in our appointment booking tool using the button

The chargeable airside driving license consists of two different categories: The initial and the recurrent training:
Initial Training:
- Theoretical training (CBT - Computer Based Training)
- Theoretical test
- Practical test
Recurrent Training:
- Theoretical training (CBT - Computer Based Training)
- Theoretical test
The airside driving license will be issued for the following areas according the official necessity:
- POS Aircraft stands
- UM Perimeter road
- UM+ Perimeter road including air traffic control facilities
- TWC Taxiway whiskey crossing
- PUS Aircraft pushback and towing
- GAC General Aviation
- RWY Runways, taxiways and taxilanes
- FGB Airbridge
- DGS Docking Guidance System
- Due to legal regulations all issued airside driving licenses are valid for two years from the date of issue.
- Airside driving license holders are requested to take care about recurrent training registration themselves in time. Recurrent trainings can be started three months before expiration earliest.
