The Flughafen Wien Group registered passenger growth in September 2025. Total passenger volume in the entire Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) rose 4.1% year-on-year to 4,224,790 travellers. Passenger traffic at Vienna Airport climbed 2.2% to 3,144,947 in the month of September 2025.
The number of local passengers at Vienna Airport in climbed 3.0% compared to September 2024 to 2,429,303 travellers, whereas transfer passenger traffic fell 1.9% from the previous year to 698,126 travellers. The number of flight movements in September 2025 increased to 22,481 starts and landings (+2.0%). Cargo volume totalled 25,735 tonnes, comprising an increase of 0.7% from the prior-year month.
Details on passenger traffic
In September 2025, passenger traffic from Vienna Airport to Western Europe remained stable by -0.0% from the previous year to 1,062,599 passengers. The number of passengers flying to Eastern Europe in September 2025 amounted to 253,763 travellers (+1.8%). Vienna Airport reported a total of 54,675 passengers flying to North America (-0.3%), and 26,657 travellers to Africa (+10.1%). Passenger traffic to destinations in the Middle East were up 18.6% to 79,772 travellers in September 2025. The airport registered strong passenger growth to the Far East, with passenger traffic climbing by 13.8% to 54,739 passengers.
The strategic investments of Flughafen Wien AG also continued to develop very favourably. Passenger volume at Malta Airport showed a rise of 10.5% to 990,556 travellers in the month of September 2025. Kosice Airport handled a total of 89,287 passengers, which represents an increase of 6.1% from the prior-year month.
Accumulated passenger volumes from January to September 2025: +1.9% at Vienna Airport and +4.0% in the Flughafen Wien Group
The total number of passengers handled by Vienna Airport in the period January to September 2025 increased by 1.9% from the previous year to the accumulated figure of 24,572,482 passengers. Total cargo volume from January-September 2025 equalled 233,233 tonnes, comprising a rise of 7.8% from the prior-year level. Passenger volume in the entire Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) in this nine-month period was up 4.0% to 32,880,875 travellers.
