Orientation & Signage
Would you like to request a PRM service yourself on site? Then a tactile guidance system will lead you from the Terminal 3 entrances to our mobility counters. These are equipped with an inductive hearing system as well as info screens with content available in Austrian and International sign language and enable you to call the PRM service on your own.
To ensure that you can easily find your way around Vienna Airport, more than 680 signs with LED lighting and color coding support you in orientating yourself.
Furthermore, surfaces in the terminals are marked specially at different heights and glass doors are highlighted to support passengers who are blind or have low vision glass.
Flight Information
At Vienna Airport, our flight information monitors are placed at eye level. This allows you to retrieve the information you need from the screens at close range. To ensure that you arrive at the gate on time, walking distances are given in a way that slower travel speeds are taken into account.
Self-Service Check-In Kiosks
In our Terminals, there are self-service check-in kiosk available, that enable passengers with reduced mobility to conduct the check-in autonomously. Every 10th kiosk is designed for those passengers to facilitate their independent travel since they are placed at a lower level and offer the possibility to approach them from the side.
AccessiWay
With the AccessiWay feature on the Vienna Airport website, users can personalize the appearance of our website based on their individual needs. Users can choose from a number of pre-set profiles such as a seizure-safe profile that removes blinking and reduces colour, a profile for people with visual impairments, or an ADHD-friendly profile that supports with less distraction and a more focused view. Other profile settings and customizations allow each person to adjust the website appearance according to their own needs.
PRM & Family Access Security Control
In addition to the regular entrances to the boarding pass control and Fast Track in Terminal 1 of Vienna Airport, you will find a separate entrance for PRM and families, which leads directly to the respective security check.
In addiiton, there is a wide accessible entrance for PRM and families at the boarding pass control in Terminal 3 for Economy as well as Fast Track.
PRM & Family Washrooms
Throughout all terminals there are 46 barrier-free washrooms for PRMs and families, which are equipped with changing tables for infants and can be found close to other washroom facilities. In all our PRM and Family washrooms you will find emergency buttons and in most cases also automatic doors, faucets with sensors, handles with functional buttons as well as catheter trays.
Do you want to travel to/from Vienna Airport by public transport?
To get to Vienna Airport barrier-free by public transportation, the following options are available:
- CAT - City Airport Train: The entrances of the CAT trains are at ground level and wide aisles offer sufficient space for moving around to ensure barrier-free travel. Furthermore, there are dedicated PRM areas on the trains and barrier-free washrooms in the stations.
- ÖBB - Austrian Federal Railways: Barrier-free travelling - ÖBB (oebb.at)
- Bus access: Getting on the bus via ramps or wheelchair lifts as well as dedicated wheelchair areas ensure hassle-free travel for PRM to and from Vienna Airport with Vienna Airport Lines and Postbus. If you would like to travel with Flixbus, please find all important information here.
- Accessible parking: In addition to accessible parking spaces, Vienna Airport also offers designated barrier-free spaces for picking up and dropping off passengers, as well as parking zones for escorting passengers into the terminal. You can find further information here.
