Transfer
The transfer via VIENNA is faster, more comfortable and easier than at many other airports. Well-coordinated flights, especially to and from Eastern and Western Europe or for intercontinental flights, allow a quick transfer to any destination. Distances between your arrival and departure gates are short. If there is time, take advantage of our shops and restaurants.
Change at Vienna Airport
In this case, your airline will allow sufficient time for a smooth transfer. If you have any questions about minimum connecting times, please contact your airline directly.
In most cases, the check-in formalities are carried out in one operation, before your first flight:
- your baggage is checked through to your final destination and is automatically loaded onto your connecting flight.
- You will also receive your boarding pass for the onward flight on your first flight.
- You do not yet have a boarding pass for the onward flight? You will receive one at your departure gate or at a transfer desk.
Please check the departure time and gate on the flight information monitors or on our website in good time. Your gate will be displayed at least 70 minutes before departure.
In this case, your baggage will not be transferred to your onward flight and you will have to check in again in Vienna for your onward flight.
If you have booked two separate flights, it is your responsibility to ensure that you have enough time to change flights.
You should allow enough time for all check-in procedures and possible delays of your arriving flight. In addition, there may be waiting times at baggage claim as well as baggage recheck.
You must also not disregard the entry regulations for Austria!
If you are travelling without checked baggage
If you already have a boarding pass for your onward flight, all you need to do is go to your new departure gate.
You do not yet have a boarding pass for the onward flight? Depending on the airline, you can obtain boarding passes either at the check-in, at a transfer counter or directly at the departure gate. For more information, please contact your airline directly.
If you are travelling with checked baggage
If your baggage is not checked through, you must leave the transit area to check in, enter Austria, collect your baggage from the baggage carousel and check in again with your baggage in due time.
Please check the departure time and gate on the flight information monitors or on our website in good time.
Your gate will be displayed at least 70 minutes before departure.
