Tips for departure

How to start your journey relaxed

Check the status of your flight with your booked airline before you travel.

Plan enough time for your journey. Information on traffic jams and obstructions can be found on the Asfinag website, and current timetables for ÖBB, City Airport Train or bus lines can be found on their websites.

      Online Parking

Bookings can only be made 4 hours in advance

Plan your journey so that you arrive at Vienna Airport on time. If you are checking in luggage, we recommend arriving at the airport three hours before departure, with hand luggage only two hours before departure.

Check the currently valid entry regulations for your respective country of destination before you start your journey (also take into account stopovers in other countries if you are not flying directly).

Check the validity of the identity cards or passports for all fellow travellers - including your children. Each child travelling with you needs its own valid travel document. If only one parent is travelling, a declaration of consent from the other person with custody is always required. Even if you are taking children with you for whom you do not have custody, you always need written confirmation from the parents.

Prüfen Sie die Beförderungsbedingungen Ihrer Airline, insbesondere im Hinblick auf Hygienevorschriften (Maskenpflicht) sowie die zulässige Größe, Anzahl und Inhalt Ihres Reise- und Handgepäcks

Pack your luggage with foresight: We recommend that you do not carry your medication and important documents in your checked baggage. Please pack things that you have to show at the security check at the top of your hand luggage if possible.

If possible, check-in online in advance and use the self-bag drop facilities at Vienna Airport. For information on online check-in and early check-in, please contact the airline you booked with.

Have all travel documents handy when checking in. Information on entry requirements for other countries can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

If you take the City Airport Train for your journey, you have the option for many airlines to use the check-in and check in your luggage already in Wien Mitte.
